The Creatives Room

Long-Form Ads

Long-form advertising is a test of creative confidence. Make something that lasts three, five, or thirteen minutes and you've implicitly told your audience that what you have to say is worth their sustained attention. The campaigns in this collection earned that claim. Thai Life Insurance's 'Unsung Hero' runs six minutes and earns every second. Honda's 'The Other Side' uses dual narrative across a feature-length runtime. P&G's 'Thank You, Mom' tells four athletes' stories across a four-minute film. Length here is a creative choice, not a constraint.

  4. Vortex - 2017

Vortex is a personal film by Tim Sessler shot entirely on an iPhone 8 with a Freefly MoVI gimbal, filmed across New York in 48 hours. Why this collection is worth studying

Long-form advertising has become more viable as streaming and social platforms have removed time constraints from online video. But viability doesn't mean audiences are automatically patient - they still need a reason to keep watching. The campaigns that make this collection work precisely because they give that reason in the first thirty seconds and then keep delivering on it. Earning time is the primary creative task.
